Anthony R. Ruvo, MD, FACEPPresident & CEO
Dr. Ruvo completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital/Westchester County Medical Center in New York, and served as Chief Resident. He has over twenty-five years of clinical and administrative experience in Emergency Medicine and is President and CEO of MedExcel. He has reorganized MedExcel into a progressive group, ready to meet the challenges of the ever-changing medical environment. Dr. Ruvo serves on NY ACEP’s Practice Management Committee, is Medical Director of the Orange County Regional Paramedic/EMS Corp., serves on the Hudson Valley Regional EMS Medical Advisory Board, the American College of Physician Executives, the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of the State of NY.


Michael Jefferson, MD, FACEP Executive Vice President of Professional Development  
Dr. Jefferson completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit MI. New to MedExcel, Dr. Jefferson was most recently the Vice President for Quality & Systems Integration at a 400 bed hospital in Washington DC.  He brings over twenty years of expertise in all aspects of Emergency Medicine Management including principled negotiation of hospital and third party payer contracts, fee for service billing, physician staffing and recruiting.  In his role for MedExcel, Dr. Jefferson is responsible for all site operations, staffing, recruitment, retention and reporting analysis.



Robert Dittmeier, MD, FACEP – Chief Medical Officer  
Dr. Dittmeier completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Metropolitan Hospital Center affiliated with New York Medical College.  He has over 20 years of clinical experience and serves as Director of Emergency Medicine at St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY.  Dr. Dittmeier is an accomplished lecturer and certified instructor for multiple subjects of continuing medical education.  In his role for MedExcel, he is responsible for the overall quality, risk management and performance improvement programs for each of our respective hospitals.  Dr. Dittmeier has been an effective member of MedExcel for over 12 years.



Gina Puglisi, MD – Vice President of Professional Services  
Dr. Puglisi has been with MedExcel since October of 1994.  She served as Director of Emergency Medicine for the Liberty Health Care system for 14 years.  She has served as a consultant on the subjects of Joint Commission surveys, Customer Service and Patient Throughput.  In her role for MedExcel, she is responsible for Hospitalist site operations, staffing, recruitment, retention and reporting analysis.



Marie Buchanan – Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer 
Ms. Buchanan oversees MedExcel’s Department of Finance and the daily operation of MedExcel. She has extensive experience in accounting and fiscal systems in the healthcare industry. She also lends her expertise to MedExcel’s affiliate billing company, Medicom Management Services, Inc.



Michelle Ciccarelli, PHR – Vice President of Human Resources
Ms. Ciccarelli manages the company’s human resources, including employee orientation, benefits programs, employee relations and communications.  Michelle has been employed by MedExcel for more than 16 years.



Patricia Pelican – Director of Service Excellence
Ms. Pelican facilitates MedExcel’s patient satisfaction education program, The Healthcare Experience. She is certified in the methodologies of The Studer Group, The Disney Approach to Quality Service for Healthcare Professionals, and Planetree Patient Centered Care. Ms. Pelican educates MedExcel’s affiliates and hospital staff in The Healthcare Experience to maximize the patient’s perspective from arrival through departure and all the opportunities for excellence in between. Ms. Pelican also assists with the medical education committee, EMS and community outreach projects.



Linda DiLorenzo – Director of Urgent Care Development 
Linda is responsible for all facets of Urgent Care start-up and operation.  Commencing with site location and lease negotiation Ms. DiLorenzo is responsible for the build out, marketing, staffing and overall operation of all Urgent Care sites.  Ms. DiLorenzo has a background in commercial construction management, commercial real estate and human resources.
